Our Services
Robinson Jennings provides electrical installation, maintenance, repairs, inspection and testing, lighting and related services for commercial and industrial premises.
The scope of work, price and any specific requirements will be agreed before work begins. Quotations may be subject to a site inspection or further assessment of the existing installation.
We will carry out our services with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with the regulations and standards applicable to the work.
Quotations & Estimates
- Quotations and estimates are based on the information available and the scope of work described at the time.
- A quotation sets out the price for the specified work. An estimate is an indication of the anticipated cost.
- Any quotation validity period will be stated in the quotation.
- We will make clear whether VAT is included or payable in addition, where applicable.
- Additional work or changes to the agreed scope will be discussed with you, including any price or scheduling changes, before proceeding.
- If unforeseen conditions are discovered, we will explain their effect on the work and seek agreement to any necessary changes.
Appointments & Access
You must ensure that we have safe and reasonable access to the premises, electrical installations and relevant working areas at the agreed time.
Please arrange any necessary permissions and inform us of access restrictions, site procedures or operating hours before the appointment.
If work cannot proceed because agreed access is unavailable, any charge must have been disclosed in advance and must reasonably reflect the resulting costs, subject to your statutory rights.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Outside any statutory cancellation entitlement, a cancellation charge may apply where it was agreed in advance. Any charge will reasonably reflect our actual net loss, taking account of costs saved and reasonable steps to reduce that loss.
If we need to reschedule, we will notify you promptly and arrange an alternative appointment where possible.
Consumer Cancellation Rights
If you are a consumer entering into a qualifying distance or off-premises service contract, you will normally have 14 days from entering into the contract to cancel without giving a reason. Where these rights apply, we will provide the required cancellation information and model cancellation form.
You may cancel by sending a clear statement to us using the contact details on this page. You do not have to use the model form.
If you expressly request that work begins during the cancellation period and then cancel, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for services supplied, where the legal conditions have been met.
Your cancellation right ends when the service has been fully performed only where you have expressly consented to early performance and acknowledged that you will lose that right on completion.
Specific exceptions may apply, including work strictly necessary for an urgent repair or maintenance visit you have specifically requested. These exceptions do not automatically cover additional work.
Payment Terms
- Payment dates, deposits and any staged payments will be set out in your quotation or agreed before work begins.
- Where no alternative arrangement is agreed, payment is due on completion and receipt of our invoice.
- Please raise any invoice query promptly so we can investigate it.
- Any late-payment interest or charges will apply only where agreed and legally permitted.
If an undisputed payment becomes overdue, we may suspend further work after giving reasonable notice, subject to the agreement and applicable law. Any suspension will be managed with appropriate regard to site safety.
Standards & Certification
Electrical work will be carried out in accordance with the safety requirements, regulations and standards applicable to the agreed services.
Relevant certificates, inspection reports or other documentation will be supplied where required or included in the agreed scope.
An Electrical Installation Condition Report records the findings of the agreed inspection and testing. Any limitations will be stated in the report. Remedial work is not included unless expressly agreed.
Please retain the certificates and reports supplied for your records.
Client Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Providing accurate information about the premises, installation and requested work.
- Informing us of known faults, hazardous materials, concealed services or other relevant risks.
- Arranging necessary permissions from owners, landlords or site managers.
- Providing safe access and coordinating with other contractors where necessary.
- Discussing operational requirements and any planned interruption to electrical supplies before work begins.
If these matters affect the agreed work, we will discuss any necessary changes to the scope, cost or schedule with you.
Timescales & Delays
We will make reasonable efforts to meet agreed dates. Where no completion date is agreed, services will be completed within a reasonable time.
If access restrictions, material shortages, unforeseen site conditions or other circumstances affect progress, we will notify you and discuss the revised arrangements.
This section does not remove any rights or remedies available to you under applicable law.
Liability
We are responsible for loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to exercise reasonable care and skill, subject to applicable law.
We are not responsible for pre-existing defects or damage caused by others to the extent that these were not caused or worsened by our work. This does not exclude responsibility for faults we should reasonably have identified or addressed within the agreed scope.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.
Workmanship & Guarantees
If you have concerns about our workmanship, please contact us promptly with details so we can investigate and arrange an appropriate remedy where required.
Any additional workmanship guarantee will be described in your quotation or supplied separately in writing. Manufacturer warranties may apply to supplied products under their own terms.
An additional guarantee may exclude issues caused by misuse, normal wear and tear or subsequent alterations by others. These exclusions do not affect your statutory rights or our responsibility for our own work.
Health & Safety
We may pause work where conditions present a safety risk. We will explain the issue and discuss the steps required before work can safely resume.
Where isolation of electrical supplies is necessary, we will coordinate this with you wherever reasonably practicable.
Documentation & Intellectual Property
Intellectual property rights in original designs, reports and other materials we create remain with Robinson Jennings unless otherwise agreed in writing.
You may retain, copy and share documents supplied for their intended purposes, including maintenance, compliance, insurance and property records. This section does not restrict any legal entitlement to certificates or reports.
Privacy
We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Complaints
If you are dissatisfied with our services, please contact us with your name, project details and a description of the issue. We will investigate and respond, explaining any proposed steps to resolve the matter.
Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
For business customers, disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. For consumers, this does not affect any mandatory legal protections or rights to bring proceedings in another court available under applicable law.
